Pretty in Pink Eye Look

Beauty, cruelty free makeup

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a fab Valentines day! My husband and I, had a cute evening out for dinner and drinks which was lovely. I thought I’d do a post on my makeup from yesterday and show you how I wore it.

I had work so I annoyingly didn’t have long to get ready… urgh, I do hate having to rush my makeup. Nevertheless, I was determined to still go for some kind of Valentine’s Day themed eye look and this is what I came up with!

I used my Tarte Tartiest Pro Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette and my Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette. As well as wearing traditional valentines tones such as pinks, I also used purple shades and a pink and gold duochrome shade (Angelic) to create this feminine and flirty eye look.

Transition – Chic (Tarte)

Crease – Mod & Fierce (Tarte)

Outer Corner – Amethyst (HBDD), Mod, No Filter & Drama (Tarte)

Lid & Inner Corner – Angelic (HBDD)

Lower Lash Line – Mod & No Filter

I went for a glossy lip with a little sparkle and wore my Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer in Allow Me. This beaut lipgloss is a stunning shimmering rose shade that is great to use if you’re after a soft but shiny looking lip.

How I Style: Check Jacket & Oversized Belt

Check prints have been dominating fashion for a while now and there’s no sign of them going away anytime soon! They’re rocketing through S/S 2018 fashion and still reign as one of the top trends on the catwalk.

I absolutely love check and think it’s probably my favourite fashion trend at the moment. I feel that it’s such an easy print to style, co-ordinating especially well with monochrome colours and materials such as denim and (faux) leather too.

Wearing a long, large belt over a coat, jacket or blazer is a trend that has been around for a few years but is increasing in the world of fashion and it takes layering to the next level. It adds some edge to your look and cinches you in at the waist which flatters the figure more.

Today, I styled my check duster jacket from New look with a black vest top, high waisted skinny wax coated jeans, loafers and an oversized faux leather waist belt. I wore my Fiorelli back pack too for a cool and casual look.

Top – New Look

Jeans – Missguided

Belt – Peacocks

Shoes – Peacocks

Mermaid Vibes Makeup Look

Beauty, cruelty free makeup

Today I’m back with another makeup look that I wore a couple of weeks ago, this one is vibrant and colourful! The eye makeup was inspired by a look that Paige Louise a.k.a Plouise (Instagram: Plouise_makeup_academy) created except I swapped the blue on the lid that she did for a green glittery lid. I absolutely loooove her work! She’s so incredibly talented and she’s one of my favourite MUA Instagram accounts.

This is such a fun look! I used so many different colours but the blues and greens in particular were giving me mermaid vibes especially when I added the green glitter.

1. For my transition colour, I used the stunning bright yellow shade called Creamiscle from my Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Palette (This is one of my favourite shades in the palette). I took the shadow and blended it into my crease and right up to just beneath my brow bone.

2. I next went in for a vibrant orange shade using Realgar from the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette. This was blended into the crease in small, side to side motions trying not to take it up too high so that the yellow colour could still be seen.

3. I then took the gorgeous red shade from the Juvias Place Magic Palette which is called Kogi and applied that next to the crease.

4. To add more warmth to the crease, I wore Love Letter from the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette and in very tiny movements and keeping it tight to my natural crease line, I blended it in.

5. Onto the cooler tones, I lightly dabbed my brush into the Ife shade from the Magic Palette which is a stunning deep purple, and blended this in just below my crease.

6. I next used the shade Twerk from the M x JH Palette, this is a gorgeous shimmering navy blue colour. I swept this on the top part of my lid and slightly into the crease. (I admit that the blending of Ife and Twerk could have been a bit better).

7. To finish colouring the eyes, I took the shimmering aqua shade Pool Party from the same palette and applied it all over the lid. I also blended this along the bottom lashes with a little bit of the shade Twerk too.

8. The shade Vermeer from the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette was then used to highlight the inner corners of my eyes. This is my absolute fav shade to use to achieve bright and blinding inner corners which helps make eye makeup really pop.

9. To add some more green to the lid and a tad more sparkle, I wore the UD Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Distortion and applied this all over Pool Party.

10. For eyeliner, I drew a very small and thin line above my top lashes and didn’t really bring it out at all. I feel like my usual large winged liner would have looked too over the top and taken away the effect of the eyeshadow. I used the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper.

11. I took my Primark False Eyelashes in the style Sultry (just £1!) and wore them on my top lashes. I applied some Tarte Maneater mascara to them, aswell as my bottom lashes, to make them appear even longer and bolder.

12. Lastly, I used The Body Shop Black Smokey Eye Definer Pencil in my waterline to finish the eye makeup.

With doing such a bold eye look, I wore the Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Chi which is a stunning brown toned nude colour. On top of that I applied my Wet n Wild Megaslick Lipgloss in Crystal Clear to give my lips a glossy finish. I rarely wear a glossy lip but thought it would go nicely for this look – wet looking lips to go with the mermaid themed eyes.

I love this eyeshadow look and really enjoyed doing it. The contrast between the bright warm and cool shades creates an array of rainbow colours on my eyes. I do feel like I could have done better with my blending, especially on the blue colour but I’m still happy with the overall result.

I hope you enjoyed this look and thanks for reading!

My Brow Transformation Experience

Yesterday, I went to get my eyebrows done by the fabulous Danniella Morgan at La Bella, who is an artist in brow transformation. Go check out her Instagram page, she is the Queen of brows!

I was lucky enough to win Danny’s competition that she had going on back in December by which the winner won 2 free sets. I was so thrilled to find out I’d won because 1. her work looked insane and 2. I never win anything. I’ve never had my brows done professionally so I didn’t really know what to expect when getting them done.

So that Danny had more hair to work with, I left my eyebrows to grow and didn’t pluck them for about 3 weeks. This would help her to get better results and get rid of more hair.

She waxed, plucked, dyed, trimmed and sculpted my brows. She was very informative and told me everything she was doing.

The waxing helps the growth of my brows and means they are more likely to grow in the places that are sparser. The dye was left on my brows for a little while and Danny told me that they would look darkish at first but would fade to about 3 shades lighter to look more softer in appearance. The serum helped to sculpt the brows and makes them more defined. She brushed up the front of my eyebrows and trimmed them with special scissors so that that they stood up neatly and looked more tidy. Danny advised that this should only be done by a professional so that a more accurate trim can be done. The whole treatment took about 45 mins as the dye had to process and the serum had to set. I found the wax didn’t hurt when it was stripped off and neither did the plucking.

I was told to not get any water or oils on my eyebrows for the rest of the day and when removing my makeup, just avoid that particular area. This was so the dye would continue to set and not be disturbed.

Danny charges £25 and the results last about 4 or so weeks, maybe a bit longer but I suppose it depends on how well your eyebrow hair maintains the colour and how long it takes to grow back.

Overall, I really enjoyed this experience and my brows look fab. I’m so happy with them and for anyone living in the Peterborough area or around it, I definitely recommend Danny. She’s lovely, makes you feel so welcome and is very good at her job.
