Quarantine & Chill: 5 Basic Loungewear Outfits to Wear During Lockdown

Due to the current crisis, the UK is unfortunately in lockdown. As everyone is spending a lot more time at home, I thought I’d put together some laidback outfits for whether you’re WFH or using your time to ‘Quarantine & Chill’.
Although the urge to stay in PJ’s for the day is all too tempting, just getting changed into clothes gives you some sort of motivation and sets you up for the day. I find loungewear to be stylish yet effortless so for me, the next few weeks will consist of joggers, hoodies, cardigans and leggings  – Farewell for now jeans!
(Does any one else think it’s weird when people chill at home in jeans? Yeah, me too.)

Hoodies are a staple item to have in your wardrobe; they’re practical, great for layering and incredibly cosy. I’m in love with the Charcoal colour of this I Saw It First Basic Oversized Hoodie and the soft fleece lining it has inside for extra comfort. Oversized hoodies in particular are a great throw on piece over leggings for an easy, chilled-out look.

An added bonus of being in quarantine with your partner? – you can pinch their clothes! Check shirts are very on trend at the moment and although I’m yet to get my own, I’ll make do borrowing this Asos Check Shirt from my husband for now. These shirts are quite easy to get hold of on clothing websites such as Pretty Little Thing, Missguided, Asos etc. I’ve teamed it with a Missguided White Rib Tank Top and the Missguided Oversized 90s Joggers. These are my absolute FAV joggers! They have a slouchy fit and a drawstring waist, are super fleecy on the inside and are probably the comfiest item of clothing I own so I would highly recommend. I feel grey marl joggers are the epitome of casual loungewear and the colour goes with most outfits.

The grey marl joggers are back and I’m loving the grey-on-grey. This soft H&M Rib-knit Cardigan has an oversized fit with big sleeves and is perfect for layering over a bralette or crop top and relaxed bottoms; I’ve worn it on top of my Calvin Klein Unlined Bralette.

This outfit is simple and comfy – everything needed for an effective, casual ensemble. This Primark Batwing Cardigan is great for warmer days as its made from a thin material, meaning it’s practical for spring time. I’ve paired the cardigan with a plain H&M Crop Jersey Strappy Top and these Dark Charcoal I Saw It First Basic Joggers as an easy, basic look.

All beige everything. Although this type of top gives me baby grow vibes, I do find it very comfy and easy to style with joggers. This Beige H&M Short Jersey Top has a ribbed texture and a cute buttoned detail running down it; I’ve teamed it with these I Saw It First Basic Joggers

Sunday Shacket Feels

The Shacket – a clothing hybrid of when shirt meets jacket. A shacket is a great autumnal, transitional piece for those days where the weather is a bit warmer. I also think they are a great alternative to a denim jacket and are super versatile as it pairs well with items such as jeans and midi skirts. This shacket in particular is the epitome of utilitarian urban chic and injects a little edge into the outfit. I especially love the boxy silhouette as well as the dropped shoulders and raw hem detail along its bottom.

Team a shacket with an all black outfit and some chunky trainers and you cant go wrong! You have a simple yet stylish daytime ensemble.

Polka Dots & Denim

Polka dots are one of those prints that are very versatile and easy to wear; they are classic and timeless so they don’t go out of fashion and can be worn all year round. The print pairs well with denim and is a tasteful way to style up a simple pair of jeans.

Backless mules are great transitional shoes from sandal weather and offer semi-coverage which means they are fab to wear on those days that aren’t quite so cold during A/W.

Hair accessories can just add that extra bit of chic to an outfit so here, I’ve opted for a black, velvet knot headband to pull the look together.

Monochrome 🖤⚪️🖤

It’s leather trouser season again and I couldn’t be happier about it; they’re my favourite A/W staple piece as they are so versatile and can dress up any day-time outfit. For today’s get-up, I’ve combined coated, leather look jeans with a white blazer and plain black tee for a simple yet stylish monochromatic combo. I can’t wait to put more outfits together with these jeans during the colder months, especially with jumpers and more blazers. Leather seems to come back every A/W so I’d definitely recommend investing in a pair of faux leather- look trousers to keep up to date with the trend.

Comfy Neutrals

Comfort is key when it comes to putting together your outfit for the day. If you’re looking for something easy and comfortable to wear, joggers are the perfect staple item for a casual outfit.

For a luxe yet relaxed style, I teamed joggers with a slinky, disco fabric zip up top and chunky trainers. The neutral tones of nude and grey in the outfit are contrasting yet balance out each other well and help the ensemble appear more effortless.

Blazer + Slip Skirt Combo

An oversized blazer and a satin slip skirt combination is a super stylish day time look. Here, I’ve put together an almost all black outfit with a pop of snake print as a contrasting pattern to make the skirt stand out more. The structure and tailoring of the blazer complements the sleekness and midi length of the skirt as they balance each other out, adding chic and sophistication to the outfit.

A pair of trainers with this ensemble gives it a more cool and casual vibe. Handheld, structured bags are a continuing accessory trend into A/W ’19 so I paired this black and gold one to match the colours to the rest of the outfit and the hardware on the belt and the jewellery.

How I Style: Check Jacket & Oversized Belt

Check prints have been dominating fashion for a while now and there’s no sign of them going away anytime soon! They’re rocketing through S/S 2018 fashion and still reign as one of the top trends on the catwalk.

I absolutely love check and think it’s probably my favourite fashion trend at the moment. I feel that it’s such an easy print to style, co-ordinating especially well with monochrome colours and materials such as denim and (faux) leather too.

Wearing a long, large belt over a coat, jacket or blazer is a trend that has been around for a few years but is increasing in the world of fashion and it takes layering to the next level. It adds some edge to your look and cinches you in at the waist which flatters the figure more.

Today, I styled my check duster jacket from New look with a black vest top, high waisted skinny wax coated jeans, loafers and an oversized faux leather waist belt. I wore my Fiorelli back pack too for a cool and casual look.

Wardrobe Staple: Coated Skinny Jeans

I just love the feeling you get when you find an outfit that you adore and feel great in; it’s a real confidence boost! It’s also even better when you find a piece of clothing that will go with pretty much anything.

A fashion staple piece is something you need to have in your wardrobe, an essential, an item of clothing that can make any outfit look amazing. If you’re struggling to find this then look no further! Black coated skinny jeans are the perfect fashion staple piece!

I purchased the ‘Vice High Waisted Coated Skinny Jeans Black’ from Missguided a few weeks ago and I can’t stop wearing them! The high waisted cut is great for accentuating your bum and defining your figure. The coated material gives the jeans somewhere in between a leathery and a PU feel and looks super stylish! The inside of the jeans are really nice and comfy and almost don’t feel like jeans, more like trousers. They can be worn during the day with a chunky knit jumper and boots, a pretty top and mules or a casual tee and trainers for example. Alternatively, they can be worn at night with a sparkly top and heels if you wanted to dress them up more. They are so incredibly easy to style and you can get a variety of different outfits out of them so at just £25, they’re a steal! Missguided nearly always have some kind of discount on their site aswell which definitely helps, so keep your eyes peeled!

How I Style: Checked Skirt

So, this is my first fashion post! I thought I’d start with this outfit; it’s rather autumnal and wintery and can be worn during the day or to casual evening events (I wore this outfit to the cinema with friends).

I work literally a few shops away from a Peacocks store and thought I’d pop in there on my lunch break a couple of weeks ago and have a look. I was so impressed! They have such great range of A/W clothing in there at the moment! I saw the skirt and instantly fell in love! I’ve wanted a checked skirt for a while now as I know that checked prints are in this season but I’ve been hesitant to buy one as I’ve wanted to make sure the material was of good quality. I’ve put a few different checked print skirts in my basket on boohoo.com many times but as much as I love their site, I find some of their skirts can have poor quality, made with a thin material. This skirt from Peacocks feels lovely and soft and is a thick material, making it warmer and more comfortable on my body. It almost feels woolly!

The turtleneck top I’m wearing is very comfortable and feels lightweight – the only negative with this top is that it is quite see-through but I’m sure it would be fine if worn with a nude coloured bra. The fit is great and as the top is a cream colour, it means it can easily be styled with many outfits choices.

This coat is one of my favs! It’s so warm and cosy and looks very stylish. I can wear it with most outfits and I just love the camel brown colour. I bought this coat a few years ago and it’s lasted so well considering how much I wear it.

These block heeled patent shoes are boot-i-ful! (See what I did there). The shine gives them a luxe look and helps make any outfit appear more trendy.
